Actor Raymond Burr's New Issue Group of JUGOSLAVIA (1984-1991)Star of TV series "Perry Mason", "Ironsides"
Movies such as Hitchcock's "Rear Window"
This is part of Mr. Burr's personal collection. It is a unique 32-pound group of new issue JUGOSLAVIA between the years 1984 and 1991. Mr. Burr died in 1993 at age 76. I purchased his stamp collection with the
assistance
of Butterfield and Butterfield from Mr. Burr's estate in 1998.
"Burr had many hobbies: cultivating orchids and collecting wine, art, stamps, and
seashells
.
He was very fond of cooking.
He was interested in flying, sailing, and fishing." Wiki pedia
TOTAL NEW ISSUE COST TO MR. BURR: ,800+
This one-of-a-kind lot contains 56 large (up tp 12"
x
14") envelopes, two-thirds with original seals, however, all opened at the addressee window by Mr. Burr (see photo)to extract the shipping invoice for his accounting. Why keep them sealed? My guess is that he loved these colorful stamps, but had little time to arrange them in a formal collection. These large envelopes contain a firm protective folder which holds the new issue items. I have been able to examine a very few of these folders. The contents vary, and may each contain full sheets of the new issues, first-day covers, glassines with individual stamps, and other promotional materials. Each large folder has an attached blue sheet with a Sharpie pen notation as to the date Mr. Burr received the items and the price he paid. We can correctly assume theses are Mr. Burr's personal notations. I have only looked inside a couple of these folders and have left the vast majority sealed or re-sealed by Mr. Burr.
Please view all photos to to see the contents of this heavy lot. All stamps are Mint Never Hinged because they are all new issue. Covers have FDC cancellations. No stamps have been removed by me from this group. What you get is exactly what I received from Butterfield and Butterfield, the agents for his personal estate items.
This guarantees everything in this lot is from the Estate of Mr. Raymond Burr.
